Requirements

  • Merchant Mariners Credentials
  • TWIC Card
  • Master of Towing – 200 Ton
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Cargo Knowledge, Radar Certification, First Aid/CPR, Injury Prevention
  • Supervisory Skills

Essential Functions

  • Work schedule is 28 days on and 14 days off– Paid travel to and from the vessel
  • Crew Safety, vessel safety and environmental protection (Master has ultimate responsibility).
  • Pre-voyage inspections and voyage planning
  • Implement safe operation and navigation of the vessel on its planned voyage
  • Relieving the Captain in the safe operation and navigation of vessel. Neither operator should be operating the vessel for more than 12 hours in any 24-hour period.
  • Ensuring the ability for up-to-date and correct charting
  • Maintain a radio communication log reflecting all vessel-to-vessel communications, waypoints, and job start, stop, and standby times
  • Loading of vessel food stores
  • Assisting the Master Captain in any of his/her other responsibilities as needed or requested

Experience, certification, and licensing requirements

Tugboat Operator/Mate: 1 year (Preferred)

Master of Towing License (Required)

barge pushing: 3 years (Preferred)

Tugboat Operator: 3 years (Preferred)

Master of Towing 200 Ton License (Required)
